The relatively new sports phenomena of Esports, or electronic sports, has taken the world by storm over the last decade and Northwest Louisiana is bringing and featuring this new kind of sports activity in Shreveport with players from all over Louisiana to participate in seven different game series over the course of summer weekends, beginning June 19 the with a Super Smash Brothers tournament.
This tournament was created as part of a community outreach program of this summer’s special Game-Port interactive science playground exhibit at Sci-Port Discovery Center.
The competition games will be played at Contender Esports in Shreveport and also at the LSUS Cyber Co-Laboratory Esports Center with the final teams being live-streamed to Sci-Port’s IMAX theater where spectators can watch the final “battles” on a giant screen.
