Hi, my name is Amanda Kay. I’m the childbirth educator behind Birth Boss, but I’m not the boss, you are!
I am a Bossier native and a mom of three. I’ve been a birth junkie since I began to prepare for the birth of my first baby in 2018.
I am a candidate for certification through the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA).
Childbirth is a beautiful miracle, but why is it that so often mothers seem to have scary, traumatic-sounding birth stories full of unexpected complications, regret, and dismay?
The birth of a child should be one of the most joyous, empowering days of a woman’s life.
Many moms in these situations say they felt like they had no control and were not given any choices.
My mission through Birth Boss is to empower moms to take the CEO role in their prenatal care, labor, and birth.
It’s true, childbirth does not always go as envisioned, but once we understand what normal birth looks like, we can work with our body’s physiological process and modern medicine (if so desired) to promote better outcomes and be better prepared to make evidence-based decisions in the face of any twists and turns.
I believe any woman can have a fearless, regret-free birth with the proper informed-decision making and support.
I would love to be a small piece of your birth story by teaching you and providing you with the tools and resources you need to become a confident Birth Boss.
The Birth Boss Saturday workshop is offered monthly. It is a six hour course where you will be given all of the tools you need to confidently head into birth.
Whether you are planning an unmedicated birth, want an epidural, are considering a c-section, or haven’t decided; this class is for you.
No matter your path, this is a monumental event that you will never forget and it is important you know what to expect, are prepared to make decisions, and that you feel supported.
This class is designed for the pregnant woman and her support person. Moms are expected to attend with her partner or other labor support person.
Proper support is essential in labor (and parenthood) so this class is also geared toward helping your partner learn what to expect and how to best support you during labor and birth.
It is recommended that you take this class at least 2-3 months before your due date to allow time to process new information, practice comfort measures, ask your provider questions, do your own research, and to write a birth plan.
The goal is to empower moms to take the CEO role in her prenatal care, labor, and birth. This course will teach you about normal physiological birth and what to expect physically and emotionally.
We will give you the tools you need to make informed decisions and through education, reducing your fears about birth.
The Saturday workshop also includes a virtual follow-up group session about two weeks after your workshop.
This optional follow-up session will be one hour long and take place via Google Meet.
As a participant you will be encouraged to ask the questions you wished you’d asked during class or discuss topics that have come up in your prenatal appointments since class, etc.
Even if you do not have questions you are encouraged to join and listen in.
