Add some kid-friendly snacks and a few firecrackers from the corner fireworks stand and you've got the perfect family New Year's Eve celebration!
And guess what? You don't even have to stay up until midnight!
If you have younger kids and know they won't last, celebrate the New Year a few hours early or even host a "Noon Year's Eve" bash.

Fun Recipes To Try
No party is complete without great snacks! Looking for ideas? Some kid-friendly (and easy!) snacks are pigs in blankets (simply hot dogs rolled up in biscuit dough), pizza bagels (kids can add their own toppings), and a fruit salad.
Don't forget the dessert! Make or buy cupcakes, add sprinkles, and write "2021" on top of each with frosting. Or as a fun alternative, you could make a round cake and decorate it with an outline of a clock showing the hands of the clock at midnight.
The adults might go for champagne at midnight, but what about the kids? Sparkling cider is a special treat and makes a great substitute! Keep some regular apple juice on hand just in case some kids don't like the carbonation.

Set up a craft table for kids earlier in the evening to create their own 2021 signs with paint, markers, or crayons. You can hang them on the wall for decorations as they finish.
Make super easy confetti using a paper shredder and colored construction or scrap paper. Give each of the kids a baggie full of confetti so that they will be ready to toss when the clock hits the appointed hour.
With a little creativity, you can make your own New Year's Eve ball! Use a plastic play ball or beach ball and write 2021 on it with brightly colored markers. As you count down to midnight, pass the ball around the room without letting it touch the ground.

Another fun idea is to fill out an annual New Year's Interview for each family member. We have several versions to choose from or you can make your own!
These make great time capsules and we have a fun craft box you can make to keep them in for later! Kids and adults can write down their wishes and resolutions for 2021 and add them to a jar.
Later in the evening, you can pick some at random for people to guess who wrote what. Give prizes for the funniest, most unique, or most wishful.

Bossier City
During the holiday season, Bossier City’s fireworks ordinance allows fireworks to be sold and set off within the city limits from December 23 through January 1 between the hours of 10:00am & 10:00pm except on New Year’s Eve when fireworks may be discharged until 12:30am. Persons who discharge fireworks outside the designated dates and time periods are subject to fines of up to $500 or up to 60 days in jail.
Shreveport
The city of Shreveport ordinance states the dates and hours for sale, discharge, ignition or explosion of fireworks. (1) The sale, discharge, ignition or explosion of fireworks authorized for sale pursuant to R.S. 51:650 through R.S. 51:660 is prohibited in the city limits, except from noon June 16th through 10:00 p.m. June 20th, noon July 1st through 10:00 p.m. July 5th and noon December 15th through 10:00 p.m. January 1st of each year. The hours of discharge, ignition or explosion of lawful fireworks are restricted to those in subsection (2) of this section. (2) On the dates set forth in subsection (1) of this section, it shall be unlawful for any person to discharge, ignite or explode fireworks within the city limits between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.; provided, however, such activities shall not be unlawful on December 31 of each year between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. and on January 1st of each year between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m.
