The movie Debacle is a comedy centered around longtime friends Vaughn and Larry who are accustomed to running away from life's greatest challenges. After Vaughn loses his job of 20 years, the two friends have a chance encounter with a mysterious street peddler that sends them back to an old west town in the 1870s.
Vaughn and Larry quickly realize how out of place they are when they learn how often challenges and obstacles are embraced in this foreign culture. Before long, they are given a daunting task that must be completed within two weeks or risk returning to their modern day reality. They muster an inner strength they had long forgotten about, and battle an ill-tempered gunslinger, in an effort to return home.
The Debacle is loosely based on the story of Moses and Aaron and their journey out of Egypt. Befriended by the town's Reverend (Callaghan), Vaughn and Larry learn how their situation applies to the biblical account of Moses and Aaron. Through their studies, they learn to lead the town of Pumpkinville out of the captivity of a ruthless and powerful overlord. While they work to free others, Vaughn and Larry also learn to free themselves to be all that God has designed them to be
