The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Louisiana Field Office is hosting the 18แตสฐ annual Red River Watershed Festival on Saturday May 20แตสฐ, 2023. The festival will be held at the USACE J. Bennett Johnston Waterway Regional Visitor Center in downtown Shreveport from 900 AM until 2:00 PM.
The goal for this free public event is to celebrate the Red River- from Source to Sea! The Army Corps aims to promote education on wildlife, environmental protection, and recreational safety that are connected to our water resources along the Red River.
Festival attendees can:
* Receive a free youth, child, and infant life jackets, on a first come, first served basis beginning at 10 am, in conjunction with KTBS Freedom Fest.
* Observe the alligator ambassadors of Walter B Jacobs Memorial Nature Park
* Explore the educational exhibits of the JBJ Visitor Center
* Cast off of a real boat with Bass Pro Shops
* Meet the divers of the Caddo Marine Patrol
* Engineer navigation solutions with Sci-Port
* Learn to identify venomous snakes with Steve’s Snaketuary
* Protect the sea with Shreveport Aquarium
* Experiment with wind and rain gauges with the National Weather Service
* Donate blood with Lifeshare and receive a free beach towel!
