Cabin fever got you down? Why not try a visit to a drive-thru safari? We have two in decent driving distance from the Shreveport-Bossier area that can be coupled with other cool events from our Macaroni Kid Shreveport-Bossier Moms In the Know Calendar to make for a fun and amazing day-trip!

The first is called Wild Country Safari Park in Epps Louisiana.  If you love to visit with animals and have an interest seeing them out in the wild then Wild Country Safari Park invites patrons to join them for an exciting safari adventure.

This drive-through park hosts over 30 species of animals ranging from exotics such as zebras, antelopes and water buffalo to cute and adorable farm animals like pigs, goats and rabbits!

You literally never know what you may find here! Best of all, you get the real experience of getting to be "Hand-ons" with many of the animals-yep, that's right: UP CLOSE & PERSONAL!

You will find yourself petting, feeding and even cuddling & sometimes even animal kissies!

They offer a drive-thru visit experience where you can view and interact with animals from the safety and comfort of your own vehicle OR you can opt for guided tours!

Don't enjoy yourself TOO much that you forget about their petting zoo and play area! You can learn all about the lifestyles and habitats of the 30+ species of animals living here or get hands-on in their petting zoo where you're sure to find adorable animals!

Hungry? Want to shop? They have us covered there, too. Enjoy lunch under their pavilion and shop for fun souvenirs in the gift shop.

Their drive-thru experience is $12 for adults and $8 for children with kids under 3 free!  This park is open Tues-Sat: 10am-5pm & Sun: 12pm-5pm Drive-thru only.

Guided tours are available $16 for adults and $10 for kids (still free for the under 3yrs set!)  Find them at 8 Hobby Newton Rd, Epps, LA71237.

If you have any questions, you can call them here: (318) 878-3634.

If we travel the OTHER direction, you will find Lonesome Dove Exotic Safari in Jefferson, Texas. Here, they have over 160 animals to visit with, including 25 different species, located on over 60 acres to visit these lovable animals with in beautiful East Texas.

Easily pair this drive-thru safari with a trip to the Jefferson General Store for ice-cream or a root-beer float and perhaps a ride on the Jefferson Train, too for a wonderful day-trip!

Lonesome Dove Safari invites us out to observe and feed their safari of beautiful creatures, or stop by their petting zoo to get your close-up taken with their kinda-famous selfie-guru: a super friendly white camel named Steve.

Lonesome Dove Drive-thru Safari is open Tuesday-Sunday from 10:30-4:30. ALWAYS call (903)240-6180 before making a trip to make sure that they are open (inclement weather can lead to closure & while they are a short drive away, our weather can differ greatly!)

If you would like to feed the animals, a tub of food is $4. Ticket prices are $12 for Adults, $6 per child with a military & first responder discount price of $10 for adults. The best part is, you can go around the exhibit as MANY TIMES as you wish if the animals don't come visit the first go-round! So what are you waiting for? We have animals to visit, let's go!
