The Shreve Memorial Library system is inviting readers of all ages to discover “Oceans of Possibilities” this summer at the library.
Children, teens, adults and families can take a deep dive into the ocean depths through reading as well as engaging with interactive programs as part of the library’s “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading Program.
Registration for the annual Summer Reading Program begins Monday, April 18 on Beanstack.
“Oceans of Possibilities” is open to all ages, and patrons can participate by logging books online and attending a large variety of interactive, live programs at their favorite Shreve Memorial Library branch.
Children, age birth to 10, are encouraged to read five books over the summer, teens age 11 to 17 are asked to read at least three books, and adults are tasked with reading at least two books ( but why stop there?!?)
As patrons log books online, they will receive digital badges for each book read.
Those who complete the 2022 Summer Reading Program challenge will receive prizes to include drawstring bags, books, pencils and other assorted fun prizes.
Patrons can sign up for the 2022 “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading Program beginning Monday, April 18 HERE.
Registration can be completed online through the library’s Beanstack site and registered participants can begin logging books on June 1.
The deadline for completion of the Summer Reading Program is Monday, August 15.
There is no cost to participate in the “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading Program.
Throughout the summer, Shreve Memorial Library patrons can enjoy a variety of live, interactive programs inspired by the “Oceans of Possibilities” theme.
Performers scheduled for the summer include Didgeridoo Down Under, Professor Universe, Will Parker Music, Captain Maggie, Lady Chops, Geebo the Clown, Marshall Mitchell, Professor QB, Dat Does the Trick, and more.
Find these events and more listed on the Macaroni KID Shreveport Bossier Moms In the Know calendar of area-wide events HERE.
Additional programming on exciting topics such as marine aquariums and animals, glassblowing techniques, arts and crafts, and STEAM concepts will be held in conjunction with the “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading Program.
All performances and programs will take place June 1 through July 31 at Shreve Memorial Library branches throughout Caddo Parish.
