This summer, adventure begins at Shreve Memorial Library as patrons complete daring quests as part of the library’s annual Summer Reading Program.
The 2024 Summer Reading Program theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library,” highlighting the many ways that libraries stimulate imagination and encourage curiosity through materials and programming.
Adventure awaits with every turn of a page, and new experiences happen all summer-long at the library.
Registration for the annual Summer Reading Program begins April 22 on Beanstack.
The “Adventure Begins at Your Library” Summer Reading Program is open to all ages.
Patrons can participate by logging books online and attending a large variety of interactive programs this summer at Shreve Memorial Library.
Children, age birth to 10, are encouraged to read five books over the summer, teens age 11 to 17 are asked to read at least three books, and adults are tasked with reading two books.
As patrons log books online, they will receive digital badges for each book read. Those who complete the 2024 Summer Reading Program quest will receive an assortment of prizes including bags, books, pencils, erasers, and other promotional items.
Shreve Memorial Library patrons can sign up for the 2024 “Adventure Begins at Your Library” Summer Reading Program beginning Monday, April 22.
Registration can be completed online through the library’s Beanstack site. Registered participants can begin reading books on June 1.
There is no cost to participate in the “Adventure Begins at Your Library” Summer Reading Program.
Throughout the summer, Shreve Memorial Library patrons can enjoy a variety of live, interactive programs inspired by the “Adventure Begins at Your Library” theme and ideas of exploration, discovery, and new experiences.
Programs and performances scheduled for the summer feature Steve’s Snaketuary, Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park, Mother Goose, Will Parker and the Make Believe Band, Didgeridoo Down Under, Johnette Downing, DAT Does the Trick, Lady Chops, Geebo the Clown, True Mission Matters (TMM) Adventure Tour, and more.
In addition, the library will host hands-on programs, including arts and crafts workshops and STEAM learning opportunities, in conjunction with the “Adventure Begins at Your Library” Summer Reading Program.
All programs and performances for the Summer Reading Program will take place June 1 through July 31 at Shreve Memorial Library branches throughout Caddo Parish. All performances and programs are free and open to the public.
