This week kicks off Girl Scout Cookie Season in the Shreveport - Bossier City area and boy am I ready for some tasty Girl Scout Cookies!

Girl Scout Cookie season starts January 8 and runs through March 6, so mark your calendars!

There are several ways to satisfy your Girl Scout Cookie craving during the pandemic. Be sure to keep an eye out for socially distant creative ways to secure your faves- rumor has it, we can expect drive-thru cookie booths in the very near future, squee! In the meantime, here are ways you can get a head start on getting your favorites sooner than later.

  • Find a cookie booth. Locate a Girl Scout Cookie sale in your community by entering your zip code in the “Find Cookies!” tool. Currently, there are booths as close as Jefferson, TX. Locally here in Louisiana, their website reports to watch for booth information starting February 1rst!
  • Download the app. Looking for cookies on the go? Download the Girl Scout Cookie Finder app for your iOS or Android mobile device.
  • Order cookies online. Do you know a Girl Scout? Ask her if you can buy your cookies from her online site using the Digital Cookie® platform, now in its fifth record-breaking year!
  • Order for DELIVERY. Yep, you read that right! This year, you can even order Girl Scout Cookies for pickup or delivery on Grubhub.com or the Grubhub app in the Shreveport area!
  • Use your phone: text COOKIES to 59618 (message and data rates may apply. Text STOPGS for STOP, HELPGS for help) & find a booth near you!

Be sure to support your local Girl Scout troop: part of the proceeds go back to the local Girl Scout troop to support their local program, and the girls learn valuable lessons in entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing, and goal-setting.

Whether you grew up with fond memories of devouring boxes of Samoas and Tagalongs like I did, or you are new to the deliciousness that can only come from Girl Scout cookies, here are some fun facts that you may not know about Girl Scout cookies.

🍪 Lemon-ups are NEW!  We are loving these crispy lemon-flavored cookies that have inspirational messages on them for a sweet pick-me-up.

🍪 Thin Mints are vegan and dairy-free.  Thin Mints have always been bestsellers year after year. Now these crispy, chocolaty cookies are made with natural peppermint oil as well as other vegan ingredients. They do not contain any milk   ingredients.

🍪 You can freeze Girl Scout Cookies.  No need to break those New Year's resolutions - freeze boxes of Girl Scout cookies to enjoy them throughout the year.

🍪 Toffee-tastic are gluten-free.  Relatively new to the Girl Scout Cookie family, Toffee-tastics are rich, buttery cookies with tiny crunchy toffee bits in them. They are certified gluten-free and made with no artificial flavors.

🍪 The first Girl Scout Cookies were sold in 1917.  Five years after the Girl Scouts started in the U.S., the Mistletoe Troop in Muskogee, Oklahoma baked cookies and sold them in its high school cafeteria as a service project.

🍪 S'mores cookies can be microwaved.  Just like homemade s'mores, eating the melted marshmallows and chocolate between the crispy graham crackers is like a mini party in your mouth.

🍪 All Girl Scout cookies uphold the Girl Scouts' commitment to protect the environment and human and community rights.  All cookies do not have high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, or trans fat, and they are made with RSP-certified Mass Balance palm oil.
