Plain Dealing Library hosting Health Fair

By Andrea Gilmer, Bossier Parish Library March 23, 2019

This week in library news I thought I’d take the opportunity to highlight an incredible program that our Plain Dealing Branch has been working hard to organize. On Saturday, April 6 from 11:00am to 3:00pm they will be hosting a Free Health Fair, geared towards empowering, educating, and elevating the community!

Plain Dealing Branch staff members have worked hard to pull together an event that will benefit patrons. A number of special guests will be on hand, including LifeShare Blood Center, Dr. Valen Jordan with Yoga4socialjustice, Abigail McAllister from LSU AgCenter, and more. Each guest has an area of expertise that is unique to help provide information on living a healthy lifestyle, preventing and managing disease, and generally providing information on available resources.

You can sign up for a health screening, participate in exercise classes such as Zumba and Line Dancing (please bring a towel or a mat for these), enjoy interactive demonstrations, and listen to health education presentations. To just name a few more of our guests, the Louisiana Department of Health is sending a representative to speak about STD Awareness, and Rhonda Winbush from United HealthCare will have a presentation on Heart Health.

This event is packed full of vital information about helping you and your family get and stay healthy. And on top of giving out free information and screenings, there will be prizes! Throughout the event there will be free giveaways and raffles because we really do love giving our patrons free stuff. Stop in to check us out!
