Mardi Gras is here and many are looking for ways to celebrate with or without kids. Macaroni Kid Shreveport-Bossier wants to help you find the best parades and things to do in the area so I'm going to tell you my thoughts on each parade and hope to hear from you on what you like to celebrate the season. I'll add to this article as I get more input from our readers and more events as I find them because I know that our community is always adding some fun new activities.
If you have thoughts or want to share your Mardi Gras activity be sure to email me at pamelak@macaronikid.com.

Krewe of Centaur Parade
February 3rd 4:30pm
It happens rain or shine and starts at Clyde Fant Parkway. You can get the parade route here. Although this parade is for the entire family there are certain areas that are more adult than others and from what I've been told Shrevecity is very adult. Personally I think that you may see questionable things all along the route but if you are easy going it won't be a big deal, if you are a little more conservative you should stay away from the larger parades.
Krewe of Barkus and Meoux Pet Parade
February 4 12:00pm
$1 admission (free under 18 years old)
This one really is for everyone...even the furbabies. It's one of my favorite parades to take my daughter to and we always love seeing all of the animals. Because of it's location it is a little harder to find a spot to enjoy it so be prepared for a crowd. There are a few booths and fun to be had so arrive before the parade starts.

Krewe of Gemini Parade

This parade will take the same route as Krewe of Centaur and has the same feel as well as far as family appropriate.
February 11 2:00pm
This parade runs in the HIghland neighborhood and you can see the route here.
Most know this is my favorite parade and really the only one that I attend. This is mostly due to living in New Orleans and getting my fill of parades there but I like that this one is a bit smaller. It has grown over the years and finding a spot is a bit harder so arrive early but I really enjoy it and find it to be very family friendly.ย
Krewe de les Femmes Mystique
February 13 6:30pm
The only childrens only parade will be held and Pierre Bossier Mall. More info to come.
