BPL will be at the 2017 Geek’d Con event inside the Shreveport Convention Center at 400 Caddo Street in Shreveport. The dates and times are: August 18, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM; August 19, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM; and August 20, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This year the library’s theme is Steampunk.
Community Engagement Librarians Mandi Johnson and Kristin Kennedy will be in costume at the BPL booth promoting library services. Johnson announced, “the Library to Go collection will be available for check-out with subjects on manga, graphic novels, and books related to cosplay such as costume design, special effects makeup, etc. We will also be ready to sign people up for library cards on the spot.”
It will be “three days of amazing fun, filled with comic books, cosplay, art, games, and more. Join us Friday night for a vendor preview, and Saturday and Sunday, full of vendors, artists, talent, panels, and entertainment.” (http://geekdcon.com/shreveport/ ) And, you can have your photo taken with your favorite stars and characters.
