Bossier Parish Library can help with school studies

By Vickie Hardin, Associate Director of Public Relations July 20, 2017

The first day of class for Bossier Parish schools is Wednesday, August 2nd. Now is a good time for students to make sure their library cards are current and to brush up on library research skills. This will pay off in big dividends when homework and test grades start coming in.

Having a current BPL card is the first order of business. Anyone who lives in, attends school, works, or owns land in Bossier Parish is eligible for a free library card. BPL is also a member of the Green Gold Consortium, made up of nine surrounding parishes. With a card in good standing from any of these parishes patrons can obtain a BPL card at no charge.

Second, make time to visit your neighborhood BPL branch to reacquaint yourself with the Reference Section. Talk to the reference librarian and pick up any handouts with helpful information about the free services offered. Remember, the library provides 24/7 online access at www.bossierlibrary.org.

Next, browse the menu bar on the website for study tools. For extra help, students can use the Text a Librarian feature found under the Research tab for simple inquiries. Type in bossparlib + your question. You must include the keyword the first time and send to 66746. β€œWhen the library is open, a prompt reply is sent. When the library is closed, a reply is sent the next day after the library opens.”

Best wishes to all Bossier Parish students and teachers for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year.
